Decyl Glucoside (Decyl Glucoside)
Decyl Glucoside is an non-ionic surfactant that is used as a foaming, cleansing and conditioning agent to our range of cleansers. It is derived from renewable raw materials such as coconut oil, corn and fruit sugars. Made using the Green Chemistry Principles it is completely biodegradable, contains no diethanolamides, lauryl sulfates, laureth sulfates, parabens or formaldehyde.
The Green Chemistry Principles cover concepts such as:
The design of processes to maximise the amount of raw material that ends up in the product;
The use of safe, environment-benign substances;
The design of energy efficient processes;
The best form of waste disposal: not to create it in the first place.
While it won’t be quite as sudsy as petrochemical synthetics such as Cocomidopropyl Betaine, the foaming component of surfactants is merely just a “cosmetic feel”. Though it adds to the experience, a good lather isn’t actually necessary for cleaning – it’s more that we miss the suds when they’re not there.
