Lime (Citrus Aurantifolia Peel Oil)

Originating in Asia, the humble lime spread far and wide and is now cultivated in most warm & hot countries. High in Vitamin C, this fruit was used by British sailors in the 19th century to prevent scurvy.  Initially a closely guarded military secret,  the British sailor thus acquired the nickname of being a “Limey” because of their usage of limes.

Lime oil can be extracted by expression or by distillation – the peel of the unripe skin by cold expression or the peel and /or the whole ripe fruit by steam distillation.
Our lime oil is obtained by steam distillation of the fruit rinds and since it is distilled it lessens the phototoxic effect limes naturally has on the skin.

Lime oil has antiseptic, antiviral, bactericidal, disinfectant and astringent properties that fights against harmful bacteria causing skin infections & helps heal cuts, wounds and acne.
